NMMC Opens Third Ambulance Station in Lee County

TUPELO, Miss.—Today, North Mississippi Medical Center Ambulance Services opened its third ambulance station in Lee County—this one is located in Shannon and will serve the southern part of the county.

NMMC also operates an ambulance station near the hospital in Tupelo and one in Guntown to serve northern Lee County, for a total of eight ambulances during peak times.

“Lee County has built on its partnership with North Mississippi Medical Center to create an ambulance service station in Shannon to better serve the people in southern Lee County,” said Tommie Lee Ivy, president of the Lee County Board of Supervisors. “The center provides critical staging resources to reduce emergency response time to our residents.”

“During a medical emergency, area residents depend on us to respond quickly with expert care,” said Dennis Hebner, director of NMMC Ambulance Services. “The opening of this ambulance station culminates two years of work with Lee County officials to secure a location in the southern part of our county.”

The Mississippi State Department of Health designates NMMC-Tupelo as a Level II Trauma Center and Secondary Pediatric Trauma Center in the Mississippi Trauma Care System.
