Timmy Thompson Named NMMC’s Employee of the Month

TUPELO, Miss.—Timmy Thompson, nuclear medicine technologist for the Heart and Vascular Institute, has been named Employee of the Month at North Mississippi Medical Center.

Thompson joined NMMC in 1999. He worked for one year in Nuclear Medicine of the Radiology Department before moving into his current position in Nuclear Cardiology.

A graduate of Amory High School, Thompson attended Itawamba Community College in Fulton and Baptist College of Health Sciences in Memphis. He earned an associate degree in radiologic technology, a bachelor’s degree in health sciences and a certificate of nuclear medicine.

“The best part of my job is that I get great satisfaction in being in a role that I can make a small difference in someone’s life,” Thompson said.

Coworkers noted Thompson’s compassion and kindness that he displays towards patients and coworkers.

“He has a calming presence and a soothing demeanor that elicits praise from patients on a regular basis,” a coworker wrote in his nomination. “Timmy puts patients at ease and calms their nerves. We need more employees who care the way that Timmy does.”

“Timmy has a great personality and uses that special touch with his patients,” another coworker wrote. “He is kind, empathetic and courteous to everyone, including coworkers.”

Thompson is married to Dana Thompson. He has two children—son Walker, age 13; and daughter Mia, age 11. The family lives in Amory and attends Central Grove Baptist Church.
