Wesley Inducted into MATA Hall of Fame
TUPELO, Miss.—The Mississippi Athletic Trainers Association recently inducted North Mississippi Medical Center certified athletic trainer Donna Wesley, ATC, LAT, into its Hall of Fame.
The induction took place during MATA’s annual meeting in Biloxi in June.
Wesley holds a bachelor’s degree in education with emphasis in athletic training from the University of Alabama in Tuscaloosa, and a master’s degree in wellness from the University of Mississippi in Oxford.
She joined the NMMC Sports Medicine Program staff in 1996 and has been assigned to Itawamba Community College for the past three years.
“Just to be part of that group that includes many legends and icons in athletic training in Mississippi, as well as my mentors, is a tremendous and humbling honor,” Wesley said. “We don’t do it for an award, but to be recognized for your contributions is special.”
Wesley served MATA as secretary from 2000-2004 and as president from 2004-2012. She currently serves as secretary for the Southeast Athletic Trainers Association, which encompasses seven states.
