North Mississippi Health Services recognizes the media's role in keeping the community informed. Our staff provides accurate and appropriate information and access while protecting patient confidentiality.
The Marketing and Public Relations Department coordinates all contact between news media and NMHS physicians, staff or patients. This policy protects the privacy of our patients and visitors. For information or to schedule an interview with one of our physicians, staff members or patients, please call the Marketing and Public Relations Department at (662) 377-3148 between the hours of 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. Monday through Friday. Contact the on-call marketing employee by calling the NMMC-Tupelo switchboard at (662) 377-3000 after 5 p.m. and on weekends.
As required by the Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act of 1996, we guard the privacy of our patients. Confidential patient information may not be divulged to the media without the patient’s written consent. Also, no photos or video of patients may be taken without a Marketing Department staff member first securing written permission from the patient.

Undetermined—Patient awaiting physician assessment.
Good—Vital signs, such as pulse, temperature and respiration, are stable and within normal limits. Patient is conscious and comfortable. Indicators are excellent.
Fair—Vital signs are stable and within normal limits. Patient is conscious, but may be uncomfortable or may have minor complications. Indicators are favorable.
Serious—Vital signs may be unstable and not within normal limits. Patient is acutely ill. Indicators are questionable.
Critical—Vital signs are unstable and not within normal limits. Patient may be unconscious. Indicators are unfavorable.
