Breast Cancer Advocate Award
Nominate an individual who has made a difference for breast cancer patients in your community.
The Breast Cancer Advocate Award will be awarded to a person who has made an impact on the lives of breast cancer patients in North Mississippi Medical Center Cancer Care’s service area. The award will be given in October, which is Breast Cancer Awareness Month.
The award recipient will receive a set of Breast Cancer Awareness Commemorative Coins approved by the United States Mint. Inscribed on the back of the coin is the Latin phrase “E pluribus unum.” This motto was adopted by the United States in 1776 and is found on other means of U.S. currency. The inscription is translated to read, “Out of many, one.” This mantra is also applicable to the efforts of many individuals who diligently work to find a cure for and positively impact the lives of those with breast cancer.
Because of these innovative figures, the lives of many are enriched. Thank you for taking the time to nominate a special person who has made in impact on patients in our community.
Special Thanks
Special thank you to Dr. Charles Montgomery, hematologist/oncologist, for envisioning an award to honor the efforts of dedicated individuals in the fight against breast cancer.
About the Coins
The Breast Cancer Awareness Commemorative Coin, issued by the United States Mint, features two women. According to the U.S. Mint, the older woman has her hands on her chest and a relieved expression on her face. The younger woman, with a scarf on her head, holds one hand over her chest and the other raised in a fist as if she is ready to fight. The reverse side depicts a Tiger Swallowtail butterfly in flight, a symbol of hope.
