Accreditations
The breast imaging services at NMMC-Tupelo are fully accredited in:
- Mammography
- Stereotactic Breast Biopsy
- Breast Ultrasound
- Ultrasound-Guided Breast Biopsy
- Breast MRI
The American College of Radiology (ACR) has designated NMMC's radiology department as an ACR Designated Comprehensive Breast Imaging Center for being accredited in mammography, stereotactic breast biopsy, breast MRI, breast ultrasound, and ultrasound-guided breast biopsy.
What Does Accreditation Mean For Patients?
NMMC has voluntarily gone through a rigorous review process to be sure it meets nationally accepted standards.
The personnel are well qualified, through education and certification, to perform and interpret medical images and diagnostic procedures.
The equipment is appropriate for the test or treatment patients will receive, and the facility meets or exceeds quality assurance and safety guidelines.
The NMMC Breast Cancer Program has been granted a three-year/full accreditation designation by the National Accreditation Program for Breast Centers (NAPBC), a program administered by the American College of Surgeons.
The NMMC Breast Cancer Program includes all providers who diagnose and care for patients with breast cancer – including surgeons, oncologists, radiologists, pathologists and the staff of the NMMC Breast Care Center.
Receiving care at a NAPBC-accredited center ensures that a patient will have access to:
- Comprehensive care, including a full range of advanced services
- A multidisciplinary team approach to coordinate the best treatment options
- Information about ongoing clinical trials and new options
- Most importantly, quality breast care close to home.
