Biography

Dr. Heather Hancock came to Tupelo in 2017 from the University of Mississippi Medical Center, where she had served as assistant professor of ophthalmology, vitreoretinal surgery and diseases, as well as staff ophthalmologist at the G.V. Montgomery VA Medical Center, since 2010.

She holds a bachelor's degree in biological chemistry from Birmingham-Southern College and a master's degree in physiology and biophysics from the University of Alabama at Birmingham. She earned her medical degree from the University of Alabama School of Medicine in 2004 and completed an internship in internal medicine at the University of Alabama at Birmingham.

Dr. Hancock completed an ophthalmology residency at the University of Southern California in 2008. She completed a fellowship in vitreoretinal diseases and surgery in 2010 at the Charles Retina Institute in Germantown, Tennessee.

Dr. Hancock treats patients with macular degeneration, retinal detachment, vein or arterial occlusions, diabetic retinopathy and several other conditions, including pediatric retinal diseases. Injections and laser procedures are performed at North Mississippi Retina Center, while outpatient surgery is performed at North Mississippi Medical Center.
