Starkville Doctor Helps Her Former Teacher Find Relief
Paul and Rosemary Cuicchi are now patients of Dr. Emily Landrum at The Family Clinic of Starkville, but several years ago they were her teachers.
They both taught at Starkville Public Schools and were thrilled when Dr. Landrum returned to Starkville to join her father and grandfather’s medical practice. Rosemary taught the middle school gifted class, and Paul taught high school physics. They retired in 2010 after more than three decades of teaching.
“Dr. Landrum is patient, kind, intelligent and a very good listener,” Rosemary says. “She really takes time to talk to you about your problems and readily consults specialists and refers me to them as needed and checks up on my progress.”
In Spring 2024, Rosemary was rushed to a local emergency room for severe abdominal pain. Dr. Steven Brandon, Dr. Landrum’s father, was on call and admitted her to the hospital.
“The location of the pain was problematic, because none of the tests showed cause for pain in that area,” Rosemary says. “Dr. Landrum ordered an MRI of my spine and discovered bulging discs. She referred me for a fusion surgery that alleviated all my pain within a few days. We are forever indebted to her for being persistent in diagnosing the problem.”
Paul volunteers with Habitat for Humanity five days a week, and Rosemary serves on the board. They both enjoy volunteering with other local nonprofits, reading and walking. Paul does woodworking as well, and a beautiful clock he made and gifted to Dr. Steven Brandon years ago still hangs in the clinic.
“Dr. Landrum is on the cutting edge of everything from improving health opportunities for her patients to diagnosing their illnesses,” Rosemary says. “She is the best doctor ever and we highly recommend her to everyone. She, her father and her grandfather all have the heart of a servant and care about really serving their community.”
Dr. Emily Landrum is the third generation of her family to care for patients in Starkville
