Medical Staff
One of our greatest strengths in the quality of our medical staff. The medical staff offers specialists in family practice, internal medicine, surgery and pediatrics.
Inpatient Services
Inpatient care includes 24-hour direct patient care with multidisciplinary services, including nursing, radiology, laboratory, ultrasonography, CT, MRI, physical therapy, occupational therapy, speech therapy, respiratory therapy, food and nutritional services, and social services. Spiritual assistance is also available 24 hours a day through a volunteer chaplain program staffed by volunteer local pastors.
Swing Bed
North Mississippi Medical Center-Hamilton’s Swing Bed Program has 10 certified swing beds that are designed to transition patients from an acute care setting to their home setting. Our therapists strive to return patients to the highest level of independence possible. The Swing Bed Program is used for:

- Patients who have had surgery (ex. hip or knee replacement)
- Patients recovering from a stroke who are returning home soon
- Patients who need additional care and rehabilitation before returning home after a debilitating illness
- Dialysis for chronic, established patients

Emergency Services
North Mississippi Medical Center-Hamilton offers 24-hours emergency services. The Emergency Department is staffed by well-equipped, highly qualified physicians, nurse practitioners, and nurses. Emergency air ambulance services are readily available for critical care transport when needed.
Surgery
Surgeons utilize two operating suites for an array of services, including general surgery, ophthalmological and ENT.
Outpatient Services
Outpatient services include physical therapy, occupational therapy, laboratory, radiology, respiratory care, cardiac monitoring and infusion.
Rehabilitation Services
The Rehabilitation Services Department is staffed by registered physical therapists and physical therapist assistants, occupational therapists and occupational therapist assistants, and speech-language pathologists. This department, which is located inside the hospital, provides outpatient rehabilitation, acute care, swing bed and pediatric rehabilitation, among other services. Radiology Services
North Mississippi Medical Center-Hamilton’s Radiology Department is staffed by board-certified radiologists and registered radiologic technologists. Radiology services include echocardiogram, ultrasounds, diagnostic radiology, mammography, MRI, and CT. Laboratory Services
A wide array of chemistry, bacteriology, blood bank and drug testing is available 24 hours daily in the hospital’s Laboratory. Industrial drug screen collections are also provided for pre-employment and post-accident testing. For laboratory information, call (205)-921-6290.
Respiratory Therapy
The Respiratory Therapy Department at North Mississippi Medical Center-Hamilton is staffed by Alabama licensed respiratory therapists who perform all respiratory support services, including ventilator procedures, arterial blood gases, pulmonary function tests, EEGs, BIPAP/CPAP, smoking cessation and asthma consults. In addition, the department does one-on-one teaching for peak flow meters and inhaler instruction. The department also offers spirometry testing and pulmonary function testing for area industries. IV Therapy
Outpatient infusion services are available with physician referral. This service provides injections, IV infusions, antibiotic therapy and blood transfusions. Outpatient infusion services is an option for those patients who are not home bound and do not quality for home health care.
