Promoting Healing Through Prevention and Education



North Mississippi Medical Center Wound Center and Hyperbarics helps patients attain optimal quality of life by promoting wound healing and by educating health care providers and patients in wound treatment and management.

The staff helps to prevent and treat wound complications by performing wound assessments and establishing a plan of care for wounds that are difficult to heal.


The staff at NMMC Wound Center and Hyperbarics treats pressure ulcers, trauma wounds, vascular ulcers, diabetic ulcers and other types of chronic wounds.

Services available to Wound Center and Hyperbarics patients are:

Advanced Modalities


Hyperbaric oxygen therapy is a medical treatment providing you with high quality pressure amounts of oxygen, which aids in the healing process of diseased or damaged tissues. The treatment is received while comfortably lying in a specially designed pressurized chamber where you will breathe 100 percent oxygen. The benefit of hyperbaric oxygen therapy results from an oxygen enriched bloodstream—not from the oxygen’s direct contact with the wound. Hyperbaric Oxygen Therapy


Patient Referral

NMMC Wound Center and Hyperbarics staff provides care for patients who have been referred by a primary care physician and do not need hospitalization, those who need ongoing treatment and patient education following discharge from the hospital, or by self-referral.


All Wound Center and Hyperbarics services are provided by a licensed physician and a team of nurses, who are specially trained in wound care and hyperbaric medicine.

The Wound Center and Hyperbarics staff has received training to:

  • Identify vascular problems
  • Assess leg lesions
  • Educate patients and caregivers on wound care
  • Identify risk factors
  • Educate patients to reduce risk factors
  • Provide professional wound care of acute and chronic wounds




Dan Warlick, M.D., earned a bachelor’s degree from Nebraska Wesleyan University in Lincoln, Neb., and received his medical degree from the University of Nebraska Medical Center College of Medicine in Omaha, Neb. He completed a flexible residency at Baylor College of Medicine in Houston, Texas, and served a general surgery residency at Southwest Michigan Area Health Education Center in Kalamazoo, Mich. Dr. Warlick practiced general surgery for 24 years with a focus on advanced wound care for the last five years.


Richard Comer, FNP-C, earned an associate degree in nursing from Itawamba Community College then completed work on a bachelor's degree in nursing from Mississippi University for Women and a master's degree from the University of Alabama at Birmingham. Comer joined NMMC's Wound Center in 2016. He is certified by the American Academy of Nurse Practitioners.


Each Wound Center and Hyperbarics patient will:

  • Receive a comprehensive wound assessment
  • Be able to demonstrate and verbalize proper care for the wound
  • Receive ongoing wound care as needed
  • Receive continuing education regarding wound care as needed
  • Receive appropriate and timely treatment for ulcerations

Office Hours

The Wound Center and Hyperbarics is open Monday through Friday from 8 a.m. until 4:30 p.m.


Free parking is available in NMMC’s Outpatient parking deck, which is accessible through the hospital’s main entrance on Garfield Street.


NMMC Wound Center and Hyperbarics is located on the first floor of the North Mississippi Medical Center East Tower.
