North Mississippi Medical Center recognizes the important role the media plays in keeping the community informed and will cooperate in providing accurate and appropriate information and access while protecting the confidentiality of its patients.
All contact between the news media and North Mississippi Medical Center physicians, staff or patients should be carried out through NMMC's Marketing and Public Relations Department. This policy is in place to protect the privacy of our patients and visitors. For information or to schedule an interview with an NMMC physician or staff member, please call the Marketing and Public Relations Department at (662) 377-3148 between the hours of 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. Monday through Friday. After hours and on weekends, an on-call marketing employee may be reached by calling the NMMC switchboard at (662) 377-3000.
As required by the Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act of 1996, we guard the privacy of our patients carefully. Confidential patient information may not be divulged to the media without the patient’s written consent. Also, no photos or video of patients may be taken without a Marketing Department staff member first securing written permission from the patient.
To obtain a patient condition report, please contact a member of the Marketing and Public Relations Department or page the Marketing Department employee on call.
Undetermined—Patient awaiting physician assessment.
Good—Vital signs, such as pulse, temperature and respiration, are stable and within normal limits. Patient is conscious and comfortable. Indicators are excellent.
Fair—Vital signs are stable and within normal limits. Patient is conscious, but may be uncomfortable or may have minor complications. Indicators are favorable.
Serious—Vital signs may be unstable and not within normal limits. Patient is acutely ill. Indicators are questionable.
Critical—Vital signs are unstable and not within normal limits. Patient may be unconscious. Indicators are unfavorable.
