Specialized Services

Low Vision Rehabilitation Services are provided by an occupational therapist specially trained to treat individuals impacted by low vision. The therapist evaluates the patient’s ability to perform daily tasks and the areas that have been affected by vision impairment. The training may be provided in either the home or the clinic, or in some cases both.

Cost of Services

Medicare and most insurance will cover low vision services when provided by an occupational therapist. A referral from an optometrist, ophthalmologist or your doctor is required for services.

Low Vision Rehabilitation Services offer our clients with low vision solutions to make the most of their remaining vision. A person is considered to have low vision when he is experiencing problems with daily activities because of his vision. These solutions may include:
• Training with optical and non-optical devices
• Paying bills and managing finances
• Managing medications
• Preparing meals safely
• Teaching use of remaining vision
• Teaching non-visual methods
