Cardiac Observation Unit

The Cardiac Observation Unit, located on the third floor of NMMC's East Tower, provides services to outpatients who are scheduled for invasive cardiology procedures and/or surgery in the Cardiac Catheterization Lab or Electrophysiology Lab. Cardiologists, electrophysiologists and nurse practitioners coordinate patient care in the unit. Some of the services in the Cardiac Catheterization Lab include left and right heart catheterizations; peripheral, carotid, renal and coronary stents. Electrophysiology services include insertion of pacemakers, defibrillators, biventricular devices, implantable loop recorders, electrophysiology studies, radiofrequency catheter ablations or cryoablations, left atrial appendage closures and cardioversions.
